Race 1

#1 Mr. Crow

Plus play an exacta box w/#2 Marshall Plan

#1 Mr. Crow leads off an exacta box on the first race on the card that offers low-prices, but an even lower risk factor by combining two contenders that tower over the rest of the field. Lead off with Mr. Crow from Todd Pletcher, exiting a good second-place finish in the career debut last time, beaten by just a neck for a trainer who usually wins with these types of maidens in either their first or second starts. Anything close to a repeat of the first out Beyer figure will make this horse tough to beat.

Play in exacta box w/#2 Marshall Plan, who has been good in both career outings so far for Kiaran McLaughlin, finishing second behind good-looking winners both time and with excuses in each race. Should be no worse than second again today.

Race 4

#5 Double Whammy

Nine-time winner debuts at Saratoga with good out-of-town recent form coming primarily from Laurel. Likely to rebound from a dull effort last time, or else they wouldn’t be bothering to ship here to The Spa, and the other recent races look good enough to beat these at the solid morning line odds of 8-1. The key to catching Double Whammy is getting him in a one-turn race like this one. His bad efforts have been at two turns, but he’s a one-turn specialist that should do well here at this distance.
