Gulfstream Selections

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 15

SPOT PLAYS

GULFSTREAM

Race 1

#1 Quebec

In too tough in the Claiming Crown last time and post 11 didn’t help, but now drops to a reasonable level against today and becomes the horses to beat against today’s kind of competition. Likes the Gulfstream turf course and beat a better field that this two races ago with a fast speed figure in her first outing for the current connections. Luis Saez aboard for the mount is a good sign of positive trainer intent.

Race 3

#3 Offshore Trip

Plus play an exacta box w/#2 Visions of You

#3 Offshore Trip sprang to life last time out when cutback into a short turf sprint for the first time, showing good early speed and running a good effort to just miss by a head last time out at 5 1/2F. Now gets a beneficial cutback again to 5F, and his early speed running style plays the best in these short Gulfstream sprints. Beats these with any effort even close to last time.

Play in exacta box w/ #2 Visions of You, who has been knocking on the door versus maidens in both turf races and off-the-turf races with 6 in-the-money finishes in 8 races including 2-for-4 on the grass. Looms the top contender either on the grass, or in an off-the-turf situation in the event of rain.
