SPOT PLAYS
BELMONT
Race 3
#4 Empire of War
Todd
Pletcher first starter got bumped around at the start and then rushed up toward
the pace but didn’t make the lead and expended a lot of energy in the process.
Deserves another shot.
Race 6
#3 We Should Talk
Plus
play exacta box w/#1 Mo Diddley
#3 We Should Talk tried the turf in a sprint prep race last
time out off nearly a nine-month layoff and made a last-to-first move to
prevail over a 10-horse field. Probably was meant to stretch out all along and
now that they’ve won their prep race – and done so impressively – he looks
really good today in the quest for the repeat.
Play
in exacta box with #1 Mo Diddley,
who didn’t handle yielding turf last time out in a tough spot at Saratoga, but
was much better than that the two races before last here at Belmont including a
win and a second-place finish in a key race where the horse that beat him came
back to win his next race.
