#11 Finley’sluckycharm is a true Churchill Downs horse for
the course who will be one of the weekend’s livest overlays at 10-1 odds on the
morning line. Owns 6 wins in 7 career outs at Churchill including multiple
Graded stakes wins. This season has taken both the G1 Madison at Keeneland (at
7F) and the G2 Honorable Miss at Saratoga.
Too strong here on her favorite track to pass up.
Play in exacta box with #13 Marley’s Freedom, who is
a California speedster for trainer Bob Baffert who had reeled off four straight
wins and is impossible to leave out of the exacta boxes. Won 3 straight Graded
stakes at three different tracks including last time when she shipped to
Saratoga and won the G1 Ballerina with Mike Smith aboard. Re-unites with Mike
Smith here, fresh and ready, and will sit a good stalking/pressing trip.

Lost the Breeders’ Cup Turf
Sprint last year at Del Mar thanks to the 5F distance there that was too short,
but this 5 1/2F trip at Churchill is enough for him to work his magic. Besides
that he’ll be looking for the turf to dry out because he does his best running
on firm turf. Other than that he is a dominant off-the-pace force in turf
sprints and should get a perfect set-up here to allow him to come rolling to
victory through the stretch. Meets a bunch he can handle.
