#8 Novus rallied from behind two races ago off a long layoff
and now gets some extra ground to work with at this extended 1 1/8-mile
distance for turf ace trainer Christophe Clement. Faded last time but is set
for a rebound effort and the price will be right at 8-1 odds on the morning
line. The pace of this race favors his late-running style.
Play in exacta box with #7 Wicked Trick, who has been
knocking on the door vs. maidens for a long time with 7 in the money finishes
including 6 times in his last 7 outings. Owns early speed and if he can handle
the pace in this race he should hold on for at least a spot in the exacta boxes
because his speed figures stand out versus these in the grass.
Race 5
#10 Vici
Won last time he was at a
similar class level and projects to get a perfect pace set-up in this race from
a good stalking position in a race loaded with early speed. Exits back to back
tough Graded stakes assignments and this spot is much easier. Almost cashed-in
on a Grade 3 win two races ago at Kentucky Downs, and will handle these with
close to a similar effort.
