Plus play exacta box w/#1 Pipes

#6 Riken had a slow start in one mile debut last time out but then made a big move into contention until fading late due to the early efforts in a tough spot in the Sleepy Hollow stakes. Just needs a better beginning to win in this much more realistic spot.

Play in exacta box with #1 Pipes, who disappointed in the Sleepy Hollow last time out also, but had been good already at a distance three races ago in the big maiden win. Too early to give up on him, at least in the exactas.

Race 9

#8 Highway Star

No dice in the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint last time, but was very good before that when winning the Iroquois at Belmont, and now lands in an even better spot here today as horse to beat at Aqueduct, where she has racked up 3 wins and a place in 5 career starts so far. Top competition in this field seems to be entered at the wrong distance today, and the pace scenario favors this strong horse to beat.
