SPOT PLAYS
OAKLAWN
Race 7
#8 Rose of Malibu
Plus
play exacta box w/#6 She’s a Julie
#8 Rose of Malibu closed from last-to-second last time out
when loving the track in her Oaklawn debut and earning a career best speed figure.
Ready for this step-up to Graded stakes competition and will be charging home
late when many of these are tired. Finished ahead of favorite She’s a Julie
last time out in the Zia Park Oaks.
Play in exacta box with #6 She’s a Julie, who fits well in
this spot as a two-time Grade 3 winner for trainer Steve Asmussen and jockey
Santana aboard as the 9-5 morning line favorite. Good chance to get back on
track after losing to a couple of these same horses last time in the Zia Park
Oaks.
Race 9 – Southwest Stakes
#7 Sueno
Coming off a second-place
finish in the G3 Sham Stakes at Santa Anita and improving in each and every
race of his career so far coming up to this race. Can handle this distance, and
is ready to take on the army of Steve Asmussen trainees entered in this race.
Consistent runner has never been off the board, and the third place horse that
finished behind him in the stakes last time came back to win his next race.
Perfect stalking running style for today’s spot should keep him out of trouble.
