Island dropped in against maiden claimers for the first time last time out and
got hooked in a three-way battle for the lead and settled for mid-pack. Can’t
blame those who give up one more chance today to rebound because he’s run some
races in his past performances against better fields that would be more than
enough to beat these.

box with #9 Labeq, who switches to the turf here off a solid third-place effort
last time after setting blazing front-running route fractions. Can get to the
lead in this spot perhaps going much more leisurely fractions and demonstrated
in two outings last season that he handles the turf just fine. Looks tough back
at this maiden claiming class level.
Race 8
#6 Much Trouble
Lost to some of these last time out in an irrelevant
off-the-turf race, but is waiting to turn the tables on the ones that beat him
last time with this switch back to the grass. Jose Ortiz picks up the mount,
and this horse will be big trouble if able to repeat his efforts from either of
his two most recent grass races which were both against better fields down at
the Fair Grounds last winter.
