Blew the break and nearly
lost the rider to lose all chance at the start in return race off a six-month
layoff last time out. Has eary speed, but never got to use it last time
following the bad break, so toss that loss out and try again. Should win this second
start off the layoff with a better start.
Race 9
#4 Amundson
Plus play exacta box w/#6 Funny Guy
#4 Amundson looks
like the best and possibly only speed in a race with no pace, and therefore has
a great pace advantage over the rest of the field. In good form in 3
in-the-money finishes in three tough races so far this year including a stakes
win in the Hollie Hughes. Trainer Horacio DePaz had a high win percentage
Belmont meet, and has quietly been good here at Saratoga so far where all four
of this barn’s runners early in the meet hit the board. Leading rider Jose
Ortiz back aboard.
Play in
exacta box with #6 Funny Guy, who is the most accomplished horse in this field
with three NY-bred stakes wins to his credit including a big win last time out
off a layoff in the Commentator at Belmont. Won only career outing here in the
dirt at Saratoga in the $250k Albany last season. Will be tough to beat.
