The
Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf has been dominated through the years by
European-based horses, and this one comes off a giant win last time out in a
Group 1 race at Longchamp in France at 7F, and even though this horse has yet
to race at this one-mile distance, he has been pointed to this race and has
shown no signs of being tired at 7F. Improved in leaps and bounds last time and
that kind of move forward by a 2yo can be key at this stage of the campaign.
Presses the pace and pounces, and will save ground from the rail post arriving
with the regular jockey aboard.
Race 9 – Breeders’ Cup Juvenile
Fillies Turf
#4 Plum Ali
Unlike the
Juvenile males turf race, the Fillies Turf has been dominated by North American
horses as opposed to Europeans. The horse that appears to be the divisional
leader in the 2yo fillies turf division has been Plum Ali, who has started her
career 3-for-3 including a $500k stakes race at Kentucky Downs and a Grade 2
win in Belmont’s Miss Grillo, which has been the key prep race in the history
of the Juvenile Fillies Turf. Has a perfect running style for turf ace trainer
Christophe Clement as a horse who stalks the pace and takes over. Already
proven at this distance and beyond, and has already proven to be able to ship
to Kentucky and win.
