Race 7
#4 Fair Regis
Plus play exacta box w/ #11 Speightstown Gal
#4 Fair Regis got shut-off and
pinched back at the break to start last, then could only chase a runaway
winning favorite to be third, and then came back last time out with no chance
in a stakes race. Now Irad Ortiz sticks with this horse who gets a hugely
beneficial class drop to the $40k level. Hasn’t won a race in a while, but has
never been entered in this soft of a spot, and just needs a decent start.
Play in
exacta box with #11 Speightstown Gal, who keeps hitting the board in similar spots
while in key races, including a neck loss to the monster stakes-winner Lead
Guitar in a Saratoga turf sprint. Late run was delayed until too late when
blocked in traffic and shuffled back from the turn until mid-stretch last time
out. Can make amends with clear sailing, at least enough for the exactas.
Race 10
#10 Gringotts
Stumbled
badly and lost all chance at the start last time out so toss out that
last-place finish. Also had little chance two races ago in an allowance race,
even though it was at Finger Lakes. Three races ago when last entered in a
decent spot with a decent start resulted in a nice-looking maiden win at
Saratoga, and guess what? He beats this field too with a similar effort. Big
chance to win at 15-1 odds on the morning line.
