#5 Ocean Breeze has been knocking
on the door versus expensive allowance horses with in the money finishes in all
of the recent races at Churchill and Keeneland, and also is Grade 3 placed for
her effort earlier last season in the Iowa Oaks. Sprint speed figures tend to
tower over today’s competition. Geroux picks up the mount.
Play in
exacta box with #1 Crown Jewel, who goes out for the top jockey/trainer combo
of Santana and Asmussen off of a layoff since last being seen six months ago
losing in a tough key race at Keeneland. Before that last fiasco, this horse
had shown plenty of ability in an allowance second at Churchill, and in the
maiden win which came right here at this track and distance at Oaklawn last season.
Returns from a layoff, but notably ran that big maiden victory here last season
when ready to roll off of a similar layoff.

from Remington where he raced all season and earned some solid speed figures
when compared to today’s competition, and owns a fast bullet workout here last
week which indicates he handles the local surface. Drops to a low claiming
level he should be able to handle. Goes out for trainer Villafranco, who is off
to a very good start at this season’s Oaklawn meet, and the trainer grabs his
go-to jockey Vazquez for the mount.
