#5 Kim K won a key race at
Churchill two starts ago in an effort that looks even better now that the
runner-up in that race has since come back to win. Tried a Remington stakes
race after that and was certainly not embarrassed with a close third-place
finish. Remains in top form right now for the top connections of Steve Asmussen
and Ricardo Santana.
Play in
exacta box with #7 Piece of My Heart, who returns from a layoff of several
months after last being seen losing in very tough spots in the Monmouth and
Delaware Oaks. Makes 4-year-old debut today at a more reasonable class level,
and looked very good when last seen locally at Oaklawn when winning two in a
row including the Gardenia Stakes last season.
Race 9
#1 Frost or Frippery
Has the
speed to lead and often that is more than enough for this horse to be able to
go all the way based on the three wire-to-wire wins in this horse’s last four
outings. Won at Churchill, and the win last time at Delta was in a key race in
an effort that looks even better now that the second- and third-place finishers
have both come back to win their next starts. Speed figures are better than
these, owns good early speed, and is in career best form. Tough to beat.
