Mr Dumas passed the winter with some good efforts on artificial
surfaces, but really he’s a turf horse and he got back to doing what he does best
last time with a runner-up finish last time in a tough spot at Keeneland when
he was second to Bizzee Channel. Second in the Bernard Baruch (G2) at Saratoga
in 2020 and is a 3-time winner on the Churchill turf in 5 starts, so he’s
definitely up the challenge of knocking off the big favorite in this race.
Play in exacta box with #6 Set Piece, who is the big
favorite who still should be used in the exacta boxes in this field because he’s
a multiple stakes winner and Grade 1 placed last year in the Fourstardave at
Saratoga. The biggest question mark here today in this race is the lack of pace
and how it will affect his late running style, but he has a prep under his belt
where he lost by just two lengths in the grade 1 Maker’s Mark Mile, so don’t
leave him totally off your tickets.
