Horses To Watch

By: American Turf Club

WOODBINE

AWESOME ACTION: Stalked the pace while racing mid-pack and drew off to score by

three lengths; moves through next condition.

CASEY COBALT: Was well back early on but came with a strong run to just get up for second

at long odds. A must use right back.

ICE WATER: Battled hard on the lead and was holding well until very late in the drive finishing

a close-up third.

LUCKY TEC: Never got a breather, battling head to head for the lead and stayed on very well

for the place spot.

MISS SWEEP: Tried to take the field wire to wire but was no match for the 3-5 favorite who scored easily.

Held on for second and may excel going six rather then seven furlongs.

MR. BELIEVABLE: Chased the loose on the lead front runner through a quick half mile and hung in well

for second just missing the win, follow.

PACKAGE STORE: Had a tough post but came with a determined run to get up for the score. 5YO loves

the grass and must be followed back versus similar.

RUSSIAN TSAR: Closed well from 12th to get up for third just missing the place spot by a head. Will be

tough if he can save ground next out.

SOUNDTRACK: Was well back early on but still managed to put in a strong run for the place spot at

22-1, follow with similar.

4PSPECIAL: NEW DILIGENCE: Put in a solid run to finish second only getting beat by a head going

six and a half furlongs in a solid time. Should graduate next out over the lawn.

LONGSHOT: PATTER ON: Speed bred colt scored a wire to wire maiden victory over a solid field of $50k

claimers. Can repeat with conditioned claimers, tab.

LOUISIANA DOWNS

B J’S MON: Showed little when racing sans blinkers and trying to stretch out to route in latest; lightly

raced 5YO can do better having gained conditioning in ’03 starts since return from long break.

CLASSIC NIGHTMARE: Bit off more than he could chew in latest, when stepped up in class and battling

on hot pace before giving way; has back-class to cope under right circumstances.

HADLEY’S VICTORY: Battled on pace and stopped in crowded turf cast most recently, but can be a threat

on turf or dirt if able to steal away easier early.

HUNTING AROUND: Raced with blinkers added and walloped maidens when making her first start following

claim by trainer Norman; right back in reasonable spot.

KATIE KOSMOS: Lacked speed but moved wide to be along to finish in a dead-heat for place most

recently; trying sort figures to show more speed now that she has three races under her belt since return.

MAKE JOE’S DAY: Dealt with some traffic and then managed to stay on in fairly even order when fifth in latest; steps

up and makes his way through NW3L ranks.

MOVIN IN: Chased and gave way early in disappointing start when making second try back from break following fair

return; primed to step up in claiming dash now.

O’ TILL DAWN: Scored on the front end in her return from break, but then faded after giving chase in first start versus

winners last time; experience with winners helps.

SPIN THE LOVER: Has shown speed and tenacity in both career starts, including latest maiden win; has the traits to be

a successful juvenile and pedigree is all speed.

UNIONBOSS: Was done early in return from January-layoff; previously unbeaten gelding had shown speed and quality

and can rebound as a lightly raced sort.

4PSPECIAL: WELL GO THEN: Outran his 33-1 price when finishing well for place as a new face in town

making her first start since mid-June; staying on board.

LONGSHOT: SUGAR CREEK GIRL: Had minor troubles in latest, but never really threatened; more importantly, she’s

now had two sprint preps and is bred to love a route and/or turf.
