HORSES TO WATCH

By: AMERICAN TURF CLUB

MONMOUTH

CHARLEY’S DIAMOND: Took good money for his career debut last out, showed sharp early foot while battling for the lead but tired in the drive; right back.

IT’S TIME TO SMILE: Hasn’t won in a while but has been running some decent races and most recent second at 14-1 was very good, tab right back.

PERFECT LOOK: Was 0 for 11 at Monmouth before her last race but she showed gameness, scoring by a neck; hard hitting five year old can put a few in a row together.

SLEWBE JET: Was making a return from a September layoff last out, showed good speed from the outside post but tired late for third, Jersey bred will be set for best next out.

TRIESTE’S HONOR: Was quickly clear to the lead last out at 21-1, set the pace into the lane and then was run down late, tab.

VANCOUVER: Veteran ran on well to finish second in a starter allowance race, since returning from a March layoff, solid.

4STARSPECIAL: INDY: Moved into the Richard Dutrow Jr. barn last out and the improvement was immediate as he went on to score by 1 ½ lengths, can score versus winners, stay close.

LONGSHOT: QUOIT ALARMING: Got away in fourth early on and then raced evenly thereafter, 8yo mare needs a drop down the claiming ladder to show her best.

PIMLICO

BY GRACE ALONE: Turned in her typically solid effort when third most recently; in sharp form for quite a while, she’s simply hard to ignore right now.

LEGAL CONTROL: Rallied for second when willing in latest but just caught a blowout winner; Thunder Gulch gelding is typically involved in final decision.

LOWES ISLAND: Entered the stretch wide and finished with good energy when fourth in useful juvenile sprint debut; steps up for winning Gary Capuano barn.

MATT BLANC: Chased, bid for the lead, and weakened to fourth in latest, but was sternly tested for class stepping to allowance ranks; benefits for experience.

MONSTER BLUES: Dueled early and drew out to clear-cut score as the favorite over maidens most recently; lightly raced 4YO filly is set to now climb the class ladder.

NAMEQUEST: Returned to races off October ’05 absence in fine fashion, rallying from wide spot to finish third in hot turf sprint; 10YO veteran is always on our tickets.

SLEW PET: Has been a close third in a pair of consecutive starts since returned from break; 6YO is primed for breakout.

SPEED BUMP: Packs late punch when in the mood and is likely to offer value on tote; throw her in your gimmicks.

TWIST’S SPLASH: Dueled and gave way to finish fourth in her latest, but was making her first start since last-September; 5YO mare had the right to need a race.

WIRE WHIP: Rated and rallied from wide spot to finish second, beaten a length, in his latest; useful 7YO proves shrewd $14K-claim for trainer Rigattieri.

4STARSPECIAL:MORGAN’S BAILEY: Stalked, pounced, and drew out to clear score over maidens in strong debut effort; juvenile filly goes onward and upward.

LONGSHOT: SNOW CAP: Could only manage an even-going third in hot turf sprint most recently, but may have been a touch flat coming off career-best in prior start; rebounds.
