By: SPORTS NETWORK

Louisville, KY (Sports Network) - Defending champion sprinter Lost in the Fog snapped a two race losing streak on Saturday with a win in the $150,000 Aristides Breeders' Cup Handicap at Churchill Downs.

Lost in the Fog, ridden by Russell Baze, posted a 1 1/4 length victory over main rival Kelly's Landing. The time for the 6 furlongs was 1:08.52.

Lost in the Fog broke on top in the field of six. He was joined by Exciting Metro who took the lead going up the backstretch. Lost in the Fog reclaimed the lead on the turn for home with Kelly's Landing charging from the outside.

At the top of the stretch the two leaders appeared ready for a stretch duel. However, Lost in the Fog was roused by Baze and did not allow Kelly's Landing to draw even.

The Eclipse Award winner and Kelly's Landing were followed under the wire by Level Playingfield, Pro Prado, Exciting Metro and Cougar Cat

Lost in the Fog earned $90,000 with the win and now has career earnings of more than $999,000. He was coming off losses in the Breeders' Cup Sprint, where he was seventh, and an April stakes race at Bay Meadows, when he finished second.

The four-year-old is owned by Harry Aleo and trained by Greg Gilchrist. He has won 11 of 13 lifetime starts. Lost in the Fog began his career with ten straight wins.

Sent off as the 1-2 favorite, Lost in the Fog returned $3.00, $2.40 and $2.10. Kelly's Landing paid $3.20 and $2.40, and Level Playingfield paid $2.80 for show.
