Horses to Watch

MEADOWLANDS

COUNTESSA: Was away a step slow and then came running late for third a better break can only help

his chances next out.

COUP DE GRACE: Was head to head for the lead and lasted until the drive before tiring to fourth late. Can get

there with a better pace scenario.

FAST TRACKER: Was a step slow early, tracked the pace and made a strong move while racing four wide to

finish a solid second. Tab.

FEISTY BULL: Looked good scoring wire to wire over a good turf course while winning a small stakes. Filly has

ability on the turf, follow.

HOGAN’S SPIRIT: Was used up in the pace and tired to finish a well beaten fifth. Like his chances back

sprinting.

IRENES’ SONG: Was battling head to head for the lead while racing in between horses and tired to fourth in the drive. Will

be tough if he can make the lead.

KNOCK AGAIN: Versatile sort ran a solid third last out and can handle any and all surfaces, follow.

MEDAL OF FREEDOM: Was just beaten by a nose in her first career start and should graduate next out.

MELFI: Was a step slow from the rail, battled for the lead, edged ahead on the turn and tired to fourth. Graduation

day looms.

R. DOUBLE CLICK: Made a wide bid on the turn and didn’t have enough to get it done finishing fourth. Price play.

SPECTACULAR SLEW: Chased the pace throughout in the slop and tired in the drive to finish fifth. Try this one right

back on a dry surface at the big M.

STRIKE THE BRASS: Backclassy New York bred easily defeated a field of $8k claimers and was claimed from that event. His

speed always makes him dangerous.

WILDCAT WIDOW: Flashed good speed for a half mile and then tired to finish a well beaten sixth. Solid connections will

have this filly ready next out.

4STARSPECIAL: FOREST SNITCH: Saved ground early on and came with a strong rail rally to score easily by two

and a half lengths. Has some backclass and can get on a roll.

LONGSHOT: TUNE OF THE SPIRIT: Showed good speed and lasted until the stretch before tiring to finish sixth. Needs a

drop into claimers to get the job done.

SANTA ANITA

COURAGEOUS ACT: Was too close up to a fast pace but held on better than the other pace challengers for third

on 9/28. Try again.

DRAGON JENNY: First starter showed good speed in debut after breaking awkwardly from a bad outside post at Fpx. May

not be a maiden for long.

FOR MY ANGEL: Got bumped leaving the gate and could do no better than second after being forced to chase a

winning 1-2 shot in return from a layoff. Ready to graduate.

GAELIC HOPE: Toss out last-place finish on 9/28 when he was bumped hard and knocked offstride causing the rider

to lose the stirrups on 9/28. Better luck next time.

GENUINE PERFORMER: Got squeezed back at the start and then rushed up toward the pace and tired as a result.

Rates another chance.

JESSIE’S GONE WEST: Outran 54-1 odds for third in return from a brief layoff on opening day. On the improve.

LITTLE CELEBRITY: Got bumped at the start and then didn’t handle the first turn at Fairplex on 9/22. Worth

another try.

MR FRECKLES: Broke badly and rushed up toward the lead but never got near the front and had almost no chance

as a result. Too early to give up on him.

OBERMUTTEN: Broke slowly to lose his best chance in career debut, but then ran a nice race for third despite traffic

trouble behind an odds-on favorite. Won’t be a maiden for long.

PLUM GOOD DAY: Was bumped and jostled and carried out when well beaten at Fairplex on 9/28. Deserves

another chance.

READY AIM FIRE: Broke slowly and didn’t find Fairplex to her liking. Better chance in next if able to run back to

Del Mar form.

RIVERMASTER: May have won a small Fairplex stakes on 9/25 if not for trouble on the first turn. Will hold his own

at Santa Anita.

SWIFT HERO: Missed the break and spotted the rest of the field at least three lengths at the start. Expect a better

effort at Santa Anita.

4PSPECIAL: ALICES SILVER LADY: Broke badly and rushed up into a three-way battle for the lead and

settled for third. Can make amends with a good start.

LONGSHOT: XOCOLATA: Raced well on turf and outran 17-1 odds for fourth in difficult two-turn assignment in return

from a long layoff on 9/28. Don’t overlook.
