HORSES TO WATCH

By: AMERICAN TURF CLUB

BELMONT

CLASSIC FLIRT: Was scratched the other day as part of an entry but this New York bred filly is ready for a big race is she gets away well from the gate; follow the entry sheet.

FASHION QUEEN: Broke slowly from the gate and then ducked in at the start but could never make an impact thereafter; will improve with that race under her belt.

ISLAND REVERSAL: Didn’t get off to a great start last out from post 10, found his way to the rail and then ran on evenly in the lane to finish fourth; follow with NW2L $25k claimers, turf or dirt.

LOXY LADY: First time starter ran a huge race in her career debut and flew home to just miss by a half length; graduates next out and may go on to do better things.

MAD MONEY CLASSIC: Didn’t take any money for his career debut last out and finished at the back of the pack, will improve with his first race under his belt and the Levine barn does well second time out, tab.

MOON’S HALO: Broke well, was sent right to the lead while being pressed through some solid fractions but tired in the lane to finish fifth, follow right back off that effort.

MOONLIGHT FLITE: Raced evenly throughout most recently to finish fifth at 21-1 over the turf, this John Ward Jr. trainee should improve with a move downstate, tab at a price.

NULLIFY: First timer chased the pace early on over the turf but didn’t have it when it counted in the lane, should improve next out with that race under his belt.

RECEIPT: Well bred firster made a good middle move on the turn to get into contention and then ran on well in the drive to finish fourth, should improve off that effort and can handle the turf also being by DYNAFORMER, follow.

SKIP THE GLITTER: Came out of the gate in good order, pressed the pace through a half in 44:4 when trying the turf last out but tired to finish 8th; follow back on the dirt with that conditioning from the turf, tab.

TEN BAGGER: Was bumped at the start, rushed up to chase the very sharp pace before tiring to finish near the back of the pack, follow this two year old right back even with a surface switch.

BEST BET: BOLD HAWK: Broke his maiden in good order and then finished third against winners after getting off to an awkward start, has a bright future ahead of him and should handle allowance foes right back.

LONGSHOT: SOLVENT: Has not come back in great fashion this year after a solid two year old season but did have some traffic trouble and raced wide last out, will offer value with New York breds on the turf, follow.

MEADOWLANDS

BUCK’S WIND: Battled head to head for the lead last out through some solid fractions but tired late to finish fourth at 20-1, follow with restricted claimers.

DEFRERE THE SMILE: Got away at the back of the five horse field, raced wide on the turn and closed well to finish second in a solid time, sharp now.

PRIMO NOVA: Backclassy seven year old took pressure right from the start, put those rivals away and drew away for an easy score in a solid time, can repeat with better.

SALTA SAPO: Six year old mare was well placed while racing outside the leaders, dropped back a bit and then ran on well to finish third, follow this backclassy sort with Jersey breds.

SAM’S CASTLE: Was pinched back at the start of the race, trailed the field of 11 but then settled in and passed some horses in the lane for fifth, tab with a similar group.

TRIPLETHEPLEASURE: Was quickly clear to the lead last out, set solid fractions and then drew away again in the drive for an easy score, can repeat versus better.

YOU BET ITS TRUE: Broke well from the inside last out through some solid fractions, took pressure right from the start but tired in the lane to finish third behind the two favorites; can wire NW2L $20k claimers.

BEST BET: FAVORITE SWEEP: Raced wide and in between horses throughout but could not manage anything better than an even fifth place finish; eight year old was claimed that day by the Contessa barn and look for improvement right back.

LONGSHOT: BERNING BLAZE: Came out of the gate in good order, chased the pace from the inside to contest the pace and tired a bit late to finish fourth at a solid mutuel; will improve off that effort.
