HORSES TO WATCH

By: AMERICAN TURF CLUB

PHILADELPHIA PARK

BANKBUSTED: Lagged early, came wide, and rolled home to be up for victory off brief respite most recently; can build upon win and add to solid resume.

CAMDEN: Rated, took over, and prevailed for a head victory following a long drive in his latest; can always be counted on to put up a good fight with cheapies.

DOOMER: Battled on the pace after breaking a beat slow and went in acceptable order to finish second behind dominant winner; diploma run awaits this juvenile colt.

JUDITHS VOW: Rallied from well back to finish a close fourth in her latest, and when faced with tough turn back to turf dash; sharper for experience.

LOOKMEINTHEEYE: Should benefit from second start off break and return trip over this course when third in latest; needs hot pace/race luck to set up his late rumble.

STORMIN KIWI: Chased wide and gave way when stretched to a mile in his latest, but can benefit from the effort on a forward going basis; takes measure of NW2L types.

4*SPECIAL: PEPPER TRAIL: Chased and weakened in his latest, but now has three races under his saddle since back from long break; takes back-class to front end and doesn’t get caught.

LONGSHOT: FORTY ONE GROVE: Gave chase inside and went in fairly even order when fifth in educational debut; Preciado trainee moves forward quickly.

KEENELAND

BANK PRESIDENT: Got back on track with placing from just off the pace most recently, and should only step up in third start of current form cycle; back-class, too.

CATENARE: Battled with the pace and faded in stretch most recently, but did so from wide spot off a brief break so give benefit of the doubt; next time.

GENEROUSLY: Fell flat when sixth in his latest, but may have felt effect of prior fourth-place finish in return from May-break; gritty 9YO can bounce back to best stuff.

HOOCHIE GLIDE: Settled for second-best in second straight tough defeat most recently; racing gods figure to decide she’s owed one at this point, so jump aboard.

MAITE EMPIRE: Rallied from way back to finish a very good second in his career debut most recently; strong pedigree on this colt (Empire Maker – Storm Cat dam).

SLEEK HUNTER: Made it two straight wins when stepped up to allowance ranks off maiden win most recently; son of Jade Hunter keeps rolling.

SMARTY G: Fell way back early and rolled home with wide rally but had to settle for third as beaten favorite most recently; a must-use in gimmicks.

TIDE RUNNER: Rated, moved to challenge, and came up a touch short when fourth in her latest game effort off a November-layoff; solid mare to follow going forward.

WRIGGLE: Disappointed in first local try when ninth on stretch out to one-mile trip, but should offer bounce back effort before long; juvenile daughter of Hennessy worth following.

4*SPECIAL: APACHE PLUME: Chased throughout and fought gamely to the wire to finish second, beaten just a half-length, in her first start off July-layoff; primed.

LONGSHOT: WISHFUL THOUGHTS: Tuned up with chase/fade fifth-place effort in sprint when returned to this course; benefits from spot on or near the lead at route.
