Kentucky Derby Future Pool experiences shakeup

By: SPORTS NETWORK

Louisville, KY (Sports Network) - This past weekend's Kentucky Derby prep races caused a reshuffling among the contenders for the Run for the Roses when betting finished in the final Kentucky Derby Future Pool. However, the top two choices, Big Brown and Pyro, remained atop the list.

Florida Derby winner Big Brown was the 3-1 morning-line favorite and closed as the 3-1 favorite. Pyro, who will start in Saturday's $750,000 Blue Grass Stakes at Keeneland, finished as the 5-1 second pick after opening 4-1.

Colonel John's victory in the Santa Anita Derby moved him into the third spot at 6-1 when wagering closed Sunday night. He was 12-1 in the morning-line based on his win in the Sham Stakes.

Eclipse Award winner War Pass lost the Wood Memorial by a half-length to Tale of Ekati and dropped to 14-1 at the end of betting. He was 6-1 in the morning- line after coming off a last-place finish in the Tampa Bay Derby.

The mutuel field, which includes all three-year-olds not listed, is 15-1 in the morning-line and also closed at 14-1.
