HORSES TO WATCH

By: AMERICAN TURF CLUB

LONE STAR PARK

BOGEYBEAR: Blasted clear on the pace and stayed on well once headed to finish second in his latest; game gelding with speed – room on our tickets for him.

JENNIFER R.: Put in a run from well back and wide to best 10 maidens in going-away fashion most recently; right back in reasonable spot.

MAX A LOT: Gained through the stretch – and through trouble – to finish a close fourth in his latest; holds good form and can handle NW2L types.

MERITOCRACY: Raced with the pace and lived up to odds-on billing in latest score; can’t leave proven performer off your tickets.

RARE INK: Couldn’t overcome rocky start but managed third in her latest; can improve in upcoming third start of current form cycle.

SUM GRACIE: Could only press the pace and weaken to fourth as the beaten favorite in her latest, but prior form suggests she can do more; bounces back.

YO FANCI: Battled on the pace and faded to fourth when back from November-absence most recently; quick return proves the key for lightly raced 5YO mare.

4*SPECIAL: NASHEET: Held consistent form in fair fashion when up in class for latest third-place finish; rates and rallies for score.

LONGSHOT: MISS KIRAN: Raced wide to nowhere when a flat sixth in her latest, but put in an improved “number” in good heat; sneaky at a good ticket.

SUFFOLK DOWNS

BEAT THE HEAT: Rallied nicely to post belated maiden score in his latest; could continue to progress with win now under his belt.

GRAMMIE’S JAMMIES: Chased in even order when fifth in debut run that should prove useful; stay with juvenile filly, as we like pedigree cross (Graeme Hall/Tour d’Or).

KING MONGO: Rallied for second behind blowout winner in an improved effort most recently, and can build upon it; use, but demand square price.

SIR VINSKY: Rallied wide and through the mud to pick up third in his latest; proven at getting checks, he must be included in gimmicks with cheapies.

STOCKBROKER: Raced wide into the stretch and never really threatened but did manage fourth in an improved start; could surprise at NW2L level.

4*SPECIAL: C.G’S STRIKER: Rated, rallied, ran into trouble, and had to settle for sixth in his latest; fairly new face in town gets in high gear now.

LONGSHOT: OORAH: Tried to shorten up to five-furlong trip – and, in off-the-turf spot, too – in his latest and did manage third; sharper for experience.
