HORSES TO WATCH

By: AMERICAN TURF CLUB

DELAWARE PARK

MATT’S A GIANT: Rallied for second in short field when in off-the-turf dash most recently; veteran gelding is game as they come, so there is always room on our tickets.

MY VIOLIN: Tried stakes company in latest and matters only got tougher when raced was moved off the turf and to wet main track; maiden is better than distant fifth.

QUICK AND EASY: Showed ability early in career then tailed off dramatically; kudos to Petro barn for giving colt time and bringing him back in fine form, so stay on board off latest win.

SNUCKS TO BE YOU: Rated a touch, rallied to chase, and settled for distant second behind blowout winner in his belated debut; 4YO gets his turn next time.

SUNDAY IN MALIBU: Made the pace, shook off pressure, and drew out to clear-cut debut score; juvenile filly from Trombetta barn can be followed up the ladder.

4*SPECIAL: JOHANNESBURGAFFAIR: Showed good interest to rally late for third in his latest and looms a play right back with similar group; “bug” rider seems good fit.

LONGSHOT: TATNALL STREET: Put in a bid to contend then gave out and finished a distant fifth when tried in off-the-turf stakes off maiden score; juvenile colt with upside.

CALDER

ANDREW HALL: Graeme Hall firster rallied from ninth to complete the trifecta at 25-1. Should move forward for Henry Collazo.

BACK TO REALITY: Rounding into form nicely since receiving a freshening in June. Owns tactical speed and enters off a pretty decent third-place finish at 8-1.

ONE STAR FOUR DESI: Daughter of Five Star Day broke 10th in her debut, but finished with interest to report home fourth at 26-1. Should benefit from having that one under her belt.

PRETTY DINNER: Return to the weeds and stretch out in distance woke her up last time, finishing third at 24-1. Food for thought.

PROCLAMATION: Missed two months after going winless in his first nine attempts this season, then ran into some trouble on the backstretch in his return effort, a better than it looked sixth-place finish. Use in gimmicks.

QUILLIGAN: Improving with each attempt since returning from the sidelines. Blew a three-length lead in the stretch last time, but still like the way he’s progressing.

4 STAR SPECIAL: SWEET KRISTEN: Won at first asking like a good thing, running off to a 6 ¼-length tally. Daughter of Peace Rules takes care of winners next time.

LONGSHOT: AMBERDEVIL: Last three efforts at big prices are worth taking a second look at. Respectable fourth at 66-1 and a third at 33-1 on the dirt, then finished a troubled fifth at 65-1 on the lawn last time; it’s coming folks.
