Pacific Classic winner Go Between dies

By: SPORTS NETWORK

Indiantown, FL (Sports Network) - Go Between, winner of last year's Pacific Classic, died Monday as the result of a heart attack. The six-year-old was in training at Payson Park Training Center.

Owned and bred by Peter Vegso, Go Between suffered cardiac arrest following a six-furlong workout at the Florida horse park. Trainer Bill Mott was preparing the horse to defend his 2008 win in the $1 million Sunshine Millions Classic at Gulfstream Park.

Go Between won two of five starts last year for more than $1.6 million. He finished second in the Santa Anita Handicap, the Ben Ali and the Hollywood Gold Cup, and was fifth in the Breeders' Cup Classic.

For his career, Go Between had $2.9 million in earnings with eight wins in 27 starts.
