HORSES TO WATCH
TURF PARADISE
BACKSTRETCH GINGEE: Broke well last out, battled head to head for the lead through quick fractions and held game for second to the favorite, tab right back.
GOOD BAD BOY: Broke from the rail last out, rushed up to challenge for the lead and was dueling into deep stretch before fading a bit late to finish fifth, tough with basement foes.
ITSAKISS: Didn’t break that sharp in her debut sprinting on the turf, raced near the back of the pack before making a wide move into the lane closing well for third, improves off that effort.
STAR CAT GO: Broke out at the start, battled for the lead through a solid early pace and then tired late to finish a close-up fourth; tab with NW2L $3.5k claimers.
WISDOM CAT: Rushed up while racing wide down the backstretch to challenge for the lead past the half, dueled with that leader to the top of the stretch before tiring late for fifth, the value is there.
BEST BET: SARAH’S LEGACY: Closed some ground through the lane to finish third last out despite the moderate early splits, in good form and can get another win before the meeting is out.
LONGSHOT: MOON OVER HEMET: Trailed the field early on while saving ground, made a three wide move into the lane while gaining into the fastest part of the race and checked in fourth at 31-1, must follow right back.
PIMLICO
ARPLEASURE: Chased the pace and simply came up empty when it counted en route to fourth-place finish in his latest; Grove barn finds right spot for him to be more effective.
BOOGYMAN: Showed no speed and only very mild overall interest when fifth in his return from two-month break; can improve, but needs pace/race luck to set up late punch.
CLASSIC WEST: Chased the pace between foes and held on well to finish an acceptable third in her racing debut; daughter of Gone West only moves forward from here.
MAX’S BID: Got back to turf for his latest and went well to be second of 11 when the public’s favorite; has one coming to him now.
PAINTED CLOWN: Returned from September-absence in raging fashion with dominant front-running score for winning Lake barn; right back in rapid fashion on sprint scene.
RED CRAFTY: Overcame some early traffic to put in rally to reach contention and then weakened to finish a fair fourth of 11 in his latest; has more to give.
SCOOT THEM BOOTS: Raced wide to nowhere when fourth in her latest, but managed fourth in just her second start back from September-layoff; primed for move up.
TRY THE WINE: Raced a bit flat early but then closed to finish an acceptable fifth of 12 when turned back to six panels for latest; sharper for next time.
UNDAUNTED SPIRIT: Showed improved early and overall interest when a nice winner at long odds in return to course over which he is proven; takes another, just don’t expect big ticket.
4*SPECIAL: PASKETTY: Gained steadily from wide spot to finish close fourth in blanket finish most recently; nowhere to go but up from here.
LONGSHOT: NEXT BIG NOTHIN’: Dueled early, shook free on pace, and stayed on for third when sternly tested at stakes level in first try on turf; can maintain good form, and still offer value.
