HORSES TO WATCH

By: AMERICAN TURF CLUB

SARATOGA

BROTHER NICK: Took good money for his first try over the turf last out, pressed the pace until the top of the stretch and tired late to finish fifth, can improve off that race and a solid price.

COMPLIANCE OFFICER: Speedy turfer looked good breaking his maiden last out in a sharp time and can be tough with winners as long as he behaves himself on the track.

JAPENGO: Got a very nice trip last out stalking the battling frontrunners from third last out, made a good move to the take over the lead and held clear to the wire; six year old gelding fits with lower level claimers, stay close.

LE ROYALE: Got some useful conditioning and racing experience in his career debut last out and passed some horses in the lane to finish sixth, improves for sharp barn right back.

MS STILLETO: Stalked the leaders from fifth when trying winners for the first time last out and made a quick move to take over the lead into the stretch and was strong to the wire, filly continues to move forward.

PRESTO CHANGE O: Had not been seen since February when he dominated maidens, was working well but might have been up against it off all that time, a move to the turf may be an option but should be tighter next out.

RETOOL: Well bred three year old filly showed some improvement in her second career start but could only manage a fourth place finish, a stretchout in distance over the turf may do the trick.

SILVER EDITION: Was outrun early on behind quick splits and then raced evenly to the wire to finish fourth at 20-1, is better suited to six furlongs and can offer value right back.

TRAPPE SHOT: Stumbled at the start and then steadied in traffic thereafter before making a move on the far turn, eventually checking in fifth, look for a much better effort in his second career start.

BEST BET: NEVER GIVE UP: Got away near the back of the pack early on in his career debut, raced evenly thereafter and checked in sixth, got a world of experience from that race and should improve off that effort.

LONGSHOT: IMPERIAL RIVER: Has not been getting the best of trips of late, at least pace wise and made up a bit of ground through the lane to finish sixth, the value is there and use this one in your exotics especially if the pace scenario suits.

MONMOUTH PARK

FIFTYCENTSONDOLLAR: Took a big drop into $5k claimers last out and drew away for an easy score as the second choice, ready for better for the Asmussen barn.

JET SET GUY: Took another drop in class last out, got a good spot in fifth early and made a huge move to take over into the lane scoring by five lengths, ready for better.

LIPPY RULES: Speedy three year old filly pressed a sharp pace last out but couldn’t hold on tiring to finish fourth, follow with a chance on the turf.

PHILLY PRINCESS: Took some money for her debut, showed some speed early battling with the eventual winner but was a clear second, graduates next out with slight improvement and can be the key to your exotic bets.

SEVEN DAY HOLIDAY: Ran well to finish second in his first try over the turf when closing strongly coming up just ¾’s of a length short of the even money favorite; graduates with $40k maiden claimers.

SQUEAKUMS: Pressed the pace right from the start last out at 23-1, took over that lead as they headed into the lane before being challenged by the odds-on favorite before drawing away nicely, can repeat off that effort.

SWEETTALKINJEROME: Has now had two wins and two second in his last four starts and closed well in the stretch to score in his first try off the claim, sharp runner can be tough with lower level claimers.

BEST BET: CINEMUD: Speedy four year old gelding sped clear early on and never looked back scoring by more than three lengths in a sharp time, repeats.

LONGSHOT: RED PLANET: Was well back early behind some very sharp fractions last out in a five horse field and closed well very late to finish third at 16-1, tab at a price right back.
