HORSES TO WATCH
MEADOWLANDS
BILLIE B QUICK: Has caught some pretty salty optional claiming fields over the turf and checked in an even sixth last out; needs some class relief to get the job done.
FIFTY SIX STRAIGHT: Had not been seen since mid March but certainly returned running to finish second to a runaway winner, fits with NW2L $5k claimers and should be even better in her next start.
FORTUNATE TRAIL: Eight year old gelding was making his first start since July and raced as if he may have needed that race despite just missing by a half length, all set now.
KAPER LAKE: Hard hitting 5yo gelding was right up on the pace four wide, raced three wide into the turn and gamed out the score by a neck; can get another won before the meeting is up.
MARQUET MADNESS: Was such an impressive winner in her debut back in the Summertime but she hasn’t improved in her next few starts, however she has shown her speed and may be able to hold on with $40k claimers right back.
SARATOGA LILLY: Battled with the 2-5 favorite most recently through a very solid half mile but tired in the lane to finish fourth, three year old filly can lead a field of restricted $5k claimers a long way, tab.
TOORALOORACOLLORA: Raced with the pace in the two path and battled for the lead through some very solid fractions, holding on well for second to the favorite; sharp right now.
BEST BET: CONCUR: Three year old gelding finally put it altogether, taking over from the even money favorite at the top of the lane and drew away to score by more than eight lengths in a very sharp time, ready for winners.
LONGSHOT: TALKING FLIRT: Outran some quickfooted $5k claimers most recently at 67-1, set good fractions and held that lead into deep stretch settling for second late; fits with $5k claimers.
PHILADELPHIA
DIVINE LIGHT: Has shown some big races at times and her last effort was one of those big races, taking over the lead past the ¾ mark and drawing away to score by more than five lengths; take her right back with similar.
DROP THE MAIL: Closed some ground through the last half of the race when finishing third just a head off the place spot while six lengths behind the loose on the lead frontrunner, price play off that effort.
MISS SHANNY: Had not been seen since July at Lone Star, shipped into a low percentage barn but got her maiden score by more than three lengths, tab with restricted claiming winners right back.
ONE TUFF BUFF: Was outrun a bit early on in her most recent race but she closed well to finish third just a half length off the place spot while going off at 100-1; respect her right back at long odds.
SHESMYSPITE: Took it too the favorite right after the start most recently, clearing into the turn and drew away late for a big score, well bred two year old filly is ready for better.
BEST BET: OPEN ZIPPER: Cleared off to the lead right after the start, set some very solid splits while well clear and never looked back scoring by almost five lengths; taken to repeat even with a bump in class next out, tab.
LONGSHOT: TOP OF THE PYRAMID: Broke from the far outside post 12 most recently, pressed the leaders to the top of the lane before tiring to finish a decent sixth at 120-1; the value is there so use him in all exotics.
