HORSES TO WATCH

By: AMERICAN TURF CLUB

TAMPA

IRISH COVE: Led into the lane most recently with $5k claimers, was clear in midstretch but couldn’t hold off the odds-on winner and had to settle for a clear second, must be respected right back with similar.

JUST ME N YOU: Three year old filly came out running last out clearing off to a five length lead past the three quarter mark and hung on well for third to the 2-5 favorite at 30-1, can take it all the way right back, tab.

MANDATE IMAGE: Came out running on the lead setting moderate splits, dropped back to fourth as they headed to the turn before coming back to finish second at 13-1; fits with NW3L $8k claimers.

PUT IT DOWN: Battled on the lead through decent fractions over a sloppy/sealed track but couldn’t last and tired some to finish fourth at 41-1, fits with NW2L $8k claimers and can lead gate to wire at a big number, tab.

TRIPLE J SILVER: Had no early speed last out while racing behind a sharp half mile but did close some ground to finish fourth at 77-1; can get a piece of the exotics at a big price.

BEST BET: DEBIT CARD: Stalked the leaders from second through a half mile in 45:1, took over into the lane and drew away for a six length win, was claimed out of that race and can only get better; follow closely.

LONGSHOT: MR RICHMOND SIR: Had not been seen since early June, came out running from the rail post, dueled on the lead and stayed on until midstretch before tiring to finish 8th at 86-1; should improve off that effort and the value is there.

LAUREL PARK

BENNY THE WAITER: Chased and attempted to circle wide with rally, only to race evenly for third in his latest off claim by trainer Wilson; another shot with lower-end claiming types.

BETTERBEMONTBROOK: Made her way to the pace and drew off in maiden romp most recently; win came over just four opponents and at odds-on, but filly seems headed in right direction nonetheless.

COURTING ELAINE: Gained from wide spot in gathering of just five and was along for second in her latest; good solid overall profile has her on our tickets.

GOT IT COVERED: Rallied from just off the pace to win by a head from wide spot in her racing debut; something to build on with daughter of El Corredor.

HERE COMES MIKEY: Gained for second off wide journey in two-turn route most recently, and didn’t even have much pace to attack; improved form of late, so stay with him.

MUNITION: Had three-race win streak snapped in his latest, but when up to allowance level and still able to put in an acceptable try to gain for fourth after racing well back early; stay on board.

POLISH SMILE: Shot clear on the pace only to settle for third when beaten as the odds-on choice for his latest; can do more.

RUN FAT BOY RUN: Had only a minor impact when fifth of seven on local return and move back to claiming ranks most recently; perhaps with a touch cheaper, and eligible for NW2L.

WILD WITHOUT WINE: Battled on the pace, shook free to clear stretch lead, and settled for second best as the public’s choice in her return from July-break; makes amends in a hurry.

4*SPECIAL: MAGAMOO: Returned from yet another break – this time three months – and showed improvement with fair third-place try; could be rounding back to form and surprise.

LONGSHOT: TOP SEED: Has been winless since stakes score at Tampa Bay in December 2008, but recent third-place finish on class drop offered some hope; winning Trombetta barn gets him to finally click.
