HORSES TO WATCH
By: AMERICAN TURF CLUB
WOODBINE
CHIEF BEAR: Could only chase and come up empty when fifth as the failed favorite on course return and cut back in distance most recently; can rebound and offer value.
ENUMERATE: Rated off the pace, put in big move, and drew out to odds-on score in his first synthetic try most recently; seems to be developing, learning lessons, and can now climb the class ladder.
GAS N DASH: Put in good run for second when asked to stalk clear leader throughout in his return from November-layoff; moves up.
KNAVE OF HEARTS: Did encounter some trouble and managed to put in a more than acceptable even third in dash debut under five-pound “bug” rider; something to build on.
SHABAAB: Controlled the issue from start to finish with comfortable score in his return from brief respite; need-the-lead type can stay sharp in the right spots.
TRUE JEAN: Managed nice third with wide rally in her first start since last-December most recently; note, mare was also up the class ladder for allowance try, so stay with her now.
WILDCAT FRANKIE: Shot free on pace and just failed to last, but second-place try in first attempt on this course can be springboard to more; have to love this guy’s zip for trainer Hatchett.
ZENKO: Pressed the pace and weakened late, but did finish an acceptable fourth in demanding five-furlong try in first spin since last-October; maiden win should be in sight now.
4*SPECIAL: BREWTIFUL GIRL: Overcame slow break to rally and finish a useful second of five in her return from December-break; nice mare has finished in exacta in half of her 20 lifetime attempts.
LONGSHOT: BOLD NURSE: Battled on the pace, only to tire in the stretch and finish eighth in his first try since last-September; conditioning gained helps the cause.
PHILADELPHIA PARK
ALICE IS A TEN: Dueled on the pace and gave way to finish a distant fourth in disappointing try as failed favorite most recently; candidate for rebound off $15K-claim by trainer G. Preciado.
BOSOX FAN: Rallied wide to gain fourth over sloppy ground in his latest; does fit starter allowance spots and is worth using there, but could hold stronger hand with claiming crews.
GALAN FETE (ARG): Put in strong run to post win in return from claim/freshening by trainer Estrada; 5YO with a touch of back class can be back on right track in proper spots now.
GRUNWALD: Put in middle move and stayed on to finish a fair third in improved try most recently; rounding to form, he can still offer some value with right claiming cast.
REAL ROOBI: Put in a nice middle move and weakened a touch late to finish third in what should prove a useful racing debut at demanding seven-furlong trip; moves forward in a hurry now.
REXDALE WARRIOR: Acted up a bit at the gate, but put in stalk/pounce performance to get the money over sloppy ground in return from brief break most recently; keeps rolling.
SLEEK RUNNER: Battled and tired to finish fifth in her latest, but her speed must be respected with NW2L claiming crews; use in gimmicks.
SWEET SUGAR: Put in a wide rally following a slow break to finish a good second in his first start since late-January; race earned big “fig,” so just be cautious gelding does not return to races too soon.
4*SPECIAL: BULLET RAIN: Gained from wide spot to finish second over sloppy footing in his latest, when cut back to one turn for first time in a while; keeps moving forward now.
LONGSHOT: FUERTE: Needed more in the lane most recently, but was trying to make progress over sloppy strip and settled for fourth; capable of more, and fast track could help spring surprise.
