Horses To Watch

TAMPA BAY DOWNS

CALL ME MR. VAIN: Showed good speed despite breaking from post 12 and chased the leader and favorite

from gate to wire and held well for the place spot. Tab.

DOWNHILL SKIER: Was prominent throughout and hung in well for the place spot against NW2L allowance foes. May

want more distance also.

DREAM CHICK: Showed some good early foot through a quick quarter mile and held that advantage until the stretch before

tiring to sixth. Can take it all the way on the lead at a big mutuel.

HELLCAT PILOT: Was in tight early, made a three wide middle move to the lead and finished well just missing by a nose for

the whole thing. Right back.

IDENTIC: Sat mid-pack early on before making a move to the lead only to hang late in the stretch to finish fourth. Try again next

out.

NIGHT OF DELIGHT: Made up some good ground to finish a fast closing second behind the favorite going five furlongs on the

turf. Price Play.

RARE TOWER: Was right there throughout battling on the lead and tired late in the stretch to finish fifth at 31-1, follow.

WICKED WILLIE: Chased a quick pace from the outside before giving it up in the drive. Can pop at a price versus $5k

claimers.

ZEALOUS KATE: Chased the pace throughout and held very well for third just missing the place spot by a neck. Try right back at

the $5k claiming level.

4STARSPECIAL: JOAN JOAN JOAN: Well bred 2YO took a lot of money for career debut and ran a decent race to finish fifth.

Chased the pace early on and was right there until midstretch before fading late. Should be much tighter next out with that race

under her belt.

LONGSHOT: YASOU NIKO: Was sent right to the lead holding that advantage through some fast fractions and held fairly well for fourth.

Can take it all the way versus $20k claimers.

SANTA ANITA

AN ANNIKA MOMENT: First starter was bet down to 8-5 but then hesitated at the start and lost all chance. Too early

to give up.

CAN’T BE DENIED: Stumbled and got bumped at the start and then rushed up into a duel for the lead and tired to last in

a four-horse field as a result. Don’t overlook next time.

DAME FAME: Didn’t break on top but then rushed up for the lead along the inside and tired to third as a result in debut on

12/11. Can graduate in next with a clean break.

FLAG LADY B: Got bumped at the start and shuffled back going into the turn when fourth on 12/11. Can graduate with a

clean trip.

FOREST NATIVE: Got KO’d in a three-length-gap duel for the lead but still finished third in return from a 10-month layoff. Next

time’s the charm.

HEAVEN’S CAT: Well-bet first starter finished a competitive third and got claimed out of the career debut. May not be a maiden

for long.

HOUSE OF SENSATION: Got shuffled back in traffic on the backstretch and never threatened as a result on 12/11. Better luck

next time.

K’EHLEYR: Got hooked and cooked in a speed duel and still held on for third on 12/13. Rates one more try.

LADIES MEETINGS: May have needed a race but finished a close-up third in return from a nine-month layoff on 12/12. Can win

second start off the layoff.

LIKELY PROSPECT: Stumbled sharply and lost the rider at the start on 12/12. May be an overlay next time based on that

mishap.

PEPPY SHAKER: Brushed the side of the gate at the start and then rushed up to set a pressured pace before tiring as a result

on 12/14. Still a threat to shake loose.

PUMA: Broke slowly and chased a pair of front-runners around the track when third in a short turf sprint on 12/11. Try again.

ROYAL GEM: Had a very difficult assignment in a 1 1/4-mile turf race in first start off a seven-month layoff, but nearly won in a sharp

effort. Gets it all next time.

WILLIE THE CAT: Was well bet in return from a long layoff, but finished last after a rough trip. Should benefit from the return outing

and improve.

4STARSPECIAL: ORDAINED MAGIC: Needed a race after a 10-month layoff, and then got bumped and steadied at the start

and then again approaching the turn on 12/13. Worth another shot.

LONGSHOT: AIMEES PRIDE: Broke through the gate prior to the start and then got bumped back to the rear of the pack at the

break in first start since Del Mar on 12/12. Can win next off Glatt claim.
