HORSES TO WATCH

By: AMERICAN TURF CLUB

PHILADELPHIA PARK

ALICE IS A TEN: Put in a good enough try when clear early and ultimately third under the line in her latest; brings back checks, so definitely include.

ANNAPOLIS: Gained with middle move to make clear stretch lead, ultimately to fizzle a touch late and settle for second best as the public’s choice in his latest; atones.

BETT ON RUTHIE: Raced well back early and finished full of run to notch third, beaten just two lengths, in her juvenile dash debut; more than enough to build on.

BLUES CLUB: Battled with pace and stayed on gamely for fourth when outrunning his 63-1 tote price in his latest on move back to turf; stay in tune.

DAD’S LITTLE MAN: Gained from well back in short field and finished p to be second behind dominant winner in his latest; likely candidate for NW2L score in similar spot next time.

FUERTE: Put in wide run to pick up a close third in an improved effort most recently; must demand value, but use in gimmicks.

SWEET KATE’S BOY: Hit turn traffic and could only manage an even stretch finish for third thereafter in his racing debut; moves forward for Dandy barn.

4*SPECIAL: MY MAN MARTY: Battled on the pace and gave out to finish fourth as the failed favorite in his latest, but was tackling older rivals for the first time; next time, and eligible for NW2L spots.

LONGSHOT: WATER THE INFIELD: Dueled and faded to third of 10 in her latest, when taking some tote play again; has disappointed, but just might pay back the faithful.

DELAWARE PARK

GREAT HARBOUR: Benefitted from first race with winners two back – a failed seventh-place try – and went well for a close fourth in latest; next time for Entenmann-trained son of Johannesburg.

HOLYFIELD: Put in good try for second in his first spin with winners off an easy maiden score; son of Blazonry from strong Tony Dutrow barn benefits from being tested.

OUR SECOND FITZ: Finished up nicely for third in his latest, and has now been on the board in half of his 10 lifetime trips; gets pace/race luck and rallies.

PENDULUM: Made the pace and kept clear stretch edge for favored maiden score as a fresh face on class dip most recently; right back for top Motion barn.

RUN FOR SHELTER: Weakened in the lane after giving early chase from third in her latest; note, proven winning mare was up in class off claim by trainer Vazquez, who has options with placement.

SEVENSEVENTYONE: Moved to dirt for the first time – coinciding with class dip – and responded with front-running maiden score; takes another in reasonable NW2L spot.

SMILING VICKI: Made a clear pace, but capitalized and rode it out to easy debut score for Allen barn; keeps rolling with winners.

4*SPECIAL: CABARET COWBOY: Gained wide to finish second in just his second start since last-September; by no means giving up on lightly raced 4YO son of Speightstown.

LONGSHOT: NORTH FREEWAY: Pressed the pace from wide spot and stayed on to finish more than acceptable third in her racing debut; juvenile to watch.
