HORSES TO WATCH

By: AMERICAN TURF CLUB

PENN NATIONAL

ABOUND: Now has a pair of raced in her – the latest probably simply a turf conditioning trip – since back from December-break; goes in right direction for Nunley barn now.

FLATTERING ANNIE: Chased throughout and put in respectable debut run when second of five; juvenile filly can take center stage next time.

GREG GOT EVEN: Gained somewhat late, but may have simply been too far off the pace early on and never fired best shot in latest; another crack.

JILL THE PILL: Showed the way early and gave way from the inside to finish fifth in her latest, but in very hot-paced turf route and with winners for the first time; stay on board.

MISS MAISY: Put in an even try for fifth in her latest, but may be a bit better when able to be more in the race from the outset; could be worth a tumble at square ticket.

4*SPECIAL: CANDY GAMES: Failed as the favorite in his latest, but did battle on pace and manage close fourth in blanket finish; makes amends.

LONGSHOT: HOT PROPOSITION: Raced in tight early, chased the pace, and ultimately gave out to finish fourth in his latest; race did seem step forward for colt who could surprise next time.

WOODBINE

ACCOMPLICE: Raced wide from outside post position in a field of 13 most recently, and fared well enough to gain for fifth; 3YO gelding still appears to have some upside.

FIRST RATE: Put in a wide bid and finished a close fourth on class hike off claim by trainer Bankuti; barn has options now in order to get maiden score.

MALLORY: Showed the way on the pace and ultimately gave way to finish third, but behind dominant winner; knocking on the door with NW3L stock.

MY DESTINY: Outran her 37-1 tote price when third in her career debut, and at demanding seven-furlong trip; interesting 3YO filly prospect right now.

SHANGHAI KNIGHT: Rated a bit early, put in a middle move to contend, and paid the price late when sixth in his first start off a brief respite; moves up.

STRAY CAT STRIDE: Put in a wide rally to prove best over nine opponents in his latest, and form clearly is at least headed back in right direction as he dropped in class; could step back up.

WAVE OF FREEDOM: Gained from way back to finish a productive third in his racing debut; very interesting $25K-claim from Mott barn by trainer Charalambous.

4*SPECIAL: KID CANUCK: Rallied to finish second, beaten a head, in his latest; effort points to him as the one to beat next time in similar spot.

LONGSHOT: DUBLIN LANE: Chased the pace from the outside and tired to finish third of five when after repeat on class hike most recently; stay with him.
