Hallandale, FL (Sports Network) - Funny Cide, winner of last year"s Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes, made a successful return to the racetrack Saturday at Gulfstream Park. The four-year-old captured an allowance race for his first win of 2004. Funny Cide was ridden to victory by his regular jockey Jose Santos in the seven-furlong race. The time of the race was 1:22 83. The gelding is being pointed toward the Donn Handicap at Gulfstream Park on February 7. Funny Cide is owned by Sackatoga Stable and trained by Barclay Tagg. As a three-year-old he won two of eight starts for more than $1.9 million. Funny Cide is a finalist for the Eclipse Award as champion three-year-old of 2003. The other two finalists are Empire Maker and Ten Most Wanted.
