Breeders' Cup contenders workout at Hollywood Park

By: SPORTS NETWORK

Inglewood, CA (Sports Network) - Leading contenders for this year's $5 million Breeders' Cup Classic took to the Hollywood Park track Tuesday morning. The World Championships will be held at Churchill Downs on November 5 and 6.

Preakness Stakes champ Lookin At Lucky, Pacific Classic winner Richard's Kid and probable Classic starter The Usual Q.T. all had workouts at Hollywood Park in preparation for the Breeders' Cup.

Lookin At Lucky, trained by Bob Baffert, had a five-furlong work in a flat one-minute on the synthetic surface. The three-year-old colt won his last start in the Indiana Derby at Hoosier Park earlier this month. In August he won the Haskell Invitational at Monmouth Park, but got sick and lost some training time.

Baffert, who also trains Richard's Kid, put the five-year-old through a six- furlong workout. Richard's Kid covered the distance in 1:13. The two-time winner of the Pacific Classic was sixth in last year's Classic behind Zenyatta.

The Usual Q.T. also had a six-furlong workout and was timed in 1:12 4/5. Jim Cassidy trains the four-year-old gelding who could start in the Breeders' Cup Mile on grass or the Classic. If the gelding goes in the Mile he would face two-time defending Mile winner Goldikova. The Usual Q.T. was second behind Court Vision in last month's Woodbine Mile and was fifth in the Pacific Classic. He won this year's Eddie Read Handicap on the turf at Del Mar.
