Borel, Castellano penalized for Breeders' Cup brawl

By: SPORTS NETWORK

Louisville, KY (Sports Network) - Jockeys Calvin Borel and Javier Castellano were penalized Sunday for their roles in the winner's circle fracas following Friday's Breeders' Cup Marathon race at Churchill Downs.

Borel was fined $5,000, while Castellano was slapped with a fine of $2,500 and suspended for six days.

Castellano was suspended for rough riding after he guided Prince Will I Am across traffic and nearly caused Romp, with Martin Garcia aboard, to fall. Borel's mount, A.U. Miner, was bumped by the resulting actions of the other two horses.

Following the race, Borel confronted Castellano and punches were thrown in full view of television cameras. Borel had to be restrained before being guided away.

Prince Will I Am had finished second in the race, but was disqualified and placed 10th. A.U. Miner was moved up from fourth to third.
