Borel out 5-to-6 weeks with broken jaw

By: SPORTS NETWORK

Louisville, KY (Sports Network) - Calvin Borel, who was the first jockey to win the Kentucky Derby three times in four years, will reportedly miss up to six weeks after suffering a broken jaw in a race on Saturday.

Borel's agent, Jerry Hissam, told the Courier-Journal in Louisville that the 44-year-old jockey will have surgery Sunday at Jewish Hospital after being unseated by his horse in the $1 million Delta Jackpot.

Borel was thrown near the final turn and fell to the ground after a joint in the horse's hind leg locked, Hissam told the paper.

He was the first jockey ever to win the Derby three times in four years when he guided Super Saver to victory in May. He also won with Mine That Bird in 2009 and Street Sense in 2007.
