HORSES TO WATCH
By: AMERICAN TURF CLUB
TAMPA BAY DOWNS
CLASSIC SPEED: Shook off early pressure, held a clear lead, and ultimately gave out to finish fourth as a new face in town by way of CT for his latest; leads throughout next time given race over strip.
DYNANNA: Now has a pair of races in her since back from July-layoff; three-time winner brings a touch of class and can handle the right claiming crew.
NEWS: Stalked and rallied to a nose victory following a stretch battle in her latest; consistent filly can make it two straight next time.
REY DEL SOL: Put in a wide run and came up empty late in search of repeat most recently, but caught a “good” strip in off-the-turf test; scores again back on the green.
WILLEECADOO: Took some tote play for his belated racing debut as a 4YO, but never got on track en route to distant sixth-place finish; winning J. Wright barn works out kinks for next time.
YIELD TO SUCCESS: Chased the pace from wide spot and managed third of seven in her latest; has more to give, and has finished in top three in half of her 12 lifetime starts, so use in exotics.
ZOKARION: Chased throughout and came up second best behind romping winner in what should prove a useful debut run; L. Delacour barn clicked at 27% last year.
4*SPECIAL: WELL TANNED PREZ: Set the pace, held clear lead, and faded in the stretch to finish sixth most recently; prior start was stronger, and he can now bounce back to that form.
LONGSHOT: POCKET MISS: Set the pace and gave out when in a bit steep in most recent off-the-turf attempt; could lead and surprise the right group with class drop and return to turf.
FAIR GROUNDS
CIGAR STARTER: Now has a couple of races under her saddle since back from July-layoff; proven 7YO mare with a touch of class can jump up in the right spots now for Mouton barn.
GRAND TRAVERSE: Chased throughout and battled gamely to the wire when a neck short in second most recently; hard-hitting 8YO has one coming now.
MISTY LADY: Made the pace and held clear stretch margin en route to maiden win over 10 rivals most recently; LA-bred scores right back at preliminary restricted allowance level.
MULLINS BEACH: Went in fairly even order when fifth in turf sprint stakes most recently; solid mare benefits from her first start back from brief respite.
NATAWAKI: Raced wide and willing when third in turf dash most recently, in an improved effort that opens up options now; follow for Husak Jr. barn.
PALE BLAZER: Broke slow and was forced to chase wide when hung in extreme outside post (11) in his latest, and still managed a fair fifth; hard to catch on the fly in similar spot next time.
SCUFF: Showed nothing when he took some tote support for dirt debut, but switched to turf and ran a bang-up second in latest on drop to MCL level; proves worthy $30K-claim by trainer M. Lovell.
4*SPECIAL: GREEN BIKINI: Raced wide throughout and only managed an even third in her latest, but effort should be viewed as an improvement as she tried both route and turf for first time; follow.
LONGSHOT: PRATESI: Has had wide journeys and is yet to really get a fair shake; well-bred 3YO filly for Howard barn that brings them along the right way and at their own pace.
