Wednesday racing coming to Arlington Park

Arlington Heights, IL (Sports Network) - Arlington Park, home of the Arlington Million, has decided to rearrange its weekday racing schedule. The first two months of the 2011 season will have racing on Wednesday instead of Thursday.

"Racing on Wednesdays during May and June will better position our races in the simulcast marketplace," said Arlington Park general manager Tony Petrillo. "By the time July rolls around, more major tracks are running on Wednesday so we will revert to offering live racing on Thursdays, which proved to be a strong day on-track during the second part of our 2010 season."

Arlington Park will offer programs during the months of May and June on Wednesday along with Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The racing schedule will change to Thursday through Sunday beginning in July.

This year Arlington Park will have 86 days of racing from Friday, May 6 through Sunday, September 25. The Arlington Million on Saturday, August 13 tops 22 stakes worth a total of $4.3 million.
