Campaign to begin for Havre de Grace

By: SPORTS NETWORK

Hot Springs, AR (Sports Network) - With a successful 2010 behind her, four- year-old filly Havre de Grace is ready to start the 2011 season. Fox Hill Farms' stakes winning female is likely to make her debut in the $100,000 Azeri Stakes on March 19 at Oaklawn Park.

The Azeri will be on the same program as the Rebel Stakes for three-year-olds.

"She looked good doing it," said trainer Larry Jones following a Wednesday workout. "She's pretty sharp, and to do it by herself shows me it's time to get serious."

Havre de Grace worked five-furlongs at Oaklawn in 1:01 4/5.

The filly concluded a tremendous 2010 with a third in the Breeders' Cup Ladies? Classic in November at Churchill Downs just behind Unrivaled Belle and arch rival Blind Luck. The year's highlight was a victory over Blind Luck in the Cotillion Stakes at Parx Racing.

This Saturday 2009 Louisiana Derby winner Friesian Fire will start in an allowance race at the Fair Grounds. The five-year-old will be ridden by James Graham from post two in the five horse field.

Owned jointly by Vinery Stables and Fox Hill Farms, Friesian Fire is currently trained by Eclipse Award winner Steve Asmussen.
