Search committee set for new BC head

By: SPORTS NETWORK

Lexington, KY (Sports Network) - A search committee has been created to find the next president and CEO of Breeders' Cup Limited. Breeders' Cup Chairman Bill Farish announced Monday that Director Tom Ludt will serve as the group's chair.

Last week Greg Avioli, Breeders' Cup President and Chief Executive Officer, announced his resignation from the organization. Avioli held the posts for five years.

In addition to Ludt, directors Helen Alexander, Antony Beck, Jerry Crawford and Richard Santulli will comprise the search committee. The group is to begin work immediately and give an update to the Breeders' Cup Board at the April meeting.

Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the organization during the search will be Breeders' Cup COO/CFO Matthew Lutz and Breeders' Cup Senior Vice President of Sales Carter Carnegie.

The 2011 Breeders' Cup World Championships will be held for a second straight year at Churchill Downs on Friday and Saturday, November 4 and 5.
