Oaklawn Park already set for 2012

Hot Springs, AR (Sports Network) - While the 2011 racing season is still going strong, Oaklawn Park is already looking forward for the 2012 racing year.

On Saturday the Arkansas Racing Commission gave unanimous approval for Oaklawn Park's request to race 56 days in 2012. The track will commence its 2012 season on Friday, January 12 and conclude on Saturday, April 14.

Closing day is typically highlighted by the $1 million Arkansas Derby, which serves as a major stepping stone for the Kentucky Derby. This year the 1 1/8- mile race will take place on Saturday, April 16.
