Zito gets to train another three-year-old

By: SPORTS NETWORK

Hot Springs, AR (Sports Network) - Hall of Fame trainer Nick Zito has received the opportunity to train another Kentucky Derby contender.

Recent maiden winner Truman's Commander has been transferred to Zito's South Florida operation after a majority interest has been acquired by Robert LaPenta from Harry Rosenblum.

Truman's Commander broke his maiden on March 6 with a six-length victory in a mile race at Oaklawn Park. Sent off as a 13-1 longshot, Truman's Commander covered the mile in 1:38.38 on a fast track.

While the colt is on the way to Palm Meadows Training Center, Rosenblum said that Truman's Commander is possible for the $1 million Arkansas Derby on April 16. Rosenblum retains a minority interest in the colt.

Zito already trains Holy Bull Stakes winner Dialed In, who is also owned by LaPenta. Dialed In is expected to start in the Florida Derby at Gulfstream Park on April 3.
