Uncle Mo closes as favorite in final Kentucky Derby Future Wager

By: SPORTS NETWORK

Louisville, KY (Sports Network) - Eclipse Award winner Uncle Mo remained the 3-1 favorite as the final Kentucky Derby Future Wager closed Sunday evening. The 2010 champion two-year-old colt was the 3-1 morning-line favorite when betting began on Friday.

The pool was comprised of 23 individual three-year-olds and the mutuel field.

Uncle Mo, 2010 Breeders' Cup Juvenile winner, is trained by Todd Pletcher and owned by Mike Repole. He will make his next start on April 9 in the Wood Memorial at Aqueduct.

Finishing as the 5-1 second choice was freshly crowned Florida Derby champ Dialed In. Owned by Robert LaPenta and trained by Nick Zito, Dialed In opened at 10-1.

The mutuel field, which includes all three-year-olds not listed in the pool, was 8-1 at the close of wagering, a drop from 10-1 in the morning-line.

Probable Santa Anita Derby favorite Premier Pegasus was the fourth selection at 9-1. Owned and trained by Myung Kwon Cho, Premier Pegasus was 8-1 when wagering began.

One horse was dropped from the pool before bets were even accepted. Comma to the Top, 50-1 in the morning-line, was scratched from the Future Pool when his trainer, Peter Miller, confirmed that the gelding will not be entered in the Kentucky Derby.

"We were never on the (Kentucky) Derby trail, really," Miller said. "The media had it all 'Derby this and Derby that.' I don't think he's a mile and a quarter horse. His strong suit is speed and we'll be on the lead (in the Santa Anita Derby)."
