Zito horse to make 2004 debut

By: Sports Network

Oldsmar, FL (Sports Network) - Trainer Nick Zito has a stable full of three-year-olds

being pointed  toward the Kentucky Derby. One of his more interesting colts will be

making his first start of the year on Saturday.
The Cliff"s Edge, winner of two stakes as a two-year-old, tops a field of
12 for the $100,000 Sam F. Davis Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs. The 1 1/16 mile
race is the local prep race for the Tampa Bay Derby.
Owned by Robert La Penta, The Cliff"s Edge won more than $250,000 last year,
posting wins in the Kentucky Jockey Club and the Iroquois Stakes. Regular rider
Shane Sellers will come in from Louisiana to pilot the colt. Following his race
in Tampa, The Cliff"s Edge is scheduled to run in the Rebel Stakes at Oaklawn
Park. He will break from the outside post in the Sam F. Davis Stakes.
Also entered in Saturday"s race is Tap Day, who won the Dave Feldman Stakes on
the turf at Gulfstream Park. Tap Day will start from post two with Gary Boulanger
 in the saddle.
The runner-up in the Dave Feldman, Zakocity, is also entered at Tampa Bay. Zakocity
is the most experienced of those entered, as he has raced 11 times, winning twice
for more than $134,000. The three-year-old will be ridden by Jesus Castanon and
 will break from post 10.
The Sam F. Davis Stakes is the 10th of a 12 race card and is set for a 4:25 (et) post.
