HORSES TO WATCH

By: AMERICAN TURF CLUB

PIMLICO

BOLD JOE: Put in a sustained rally and made his way through traffic for a two-length score on maiden scene most recently; right back with winners in reasonable spot.

CASI CIELO: Put in a wide run to contention and faded late to finish sixth in his second start back from November-layoff; primed for breakout now.

FUNNY BOOK: Made up a lot of ground to finish a narrowly beaten second with a game and wide run; eight-time winner gets another shot.

HAYLEY REBECCA: Raced on the pace and stayed on gamely to the wire when second and beaten only a half-length as the choice in her latest; daughter of Macho Uno atones.

KEY VICTORY: Couldn’t threaten but did make up some ground late when a useful sixth of nine in sprint return from November-layoff; often underneath, so demand value and use in gimmicks.

MONEY FOR LOVE: Raced wide around the turns and managed a more than fair fifth of nine under 10-pound “bug” in his return from brief respite; horse and rider improve off experience.

ONE ROLL: Raced wide to nowhere in hot turf dash and finished eighth of nine in his latest; move back to main track might have to be the answer for B. Feliciano Jr. trainee.

PORLAMAR: Had some traffic woes and managed third in her latest, but her 16 exacta finishes from 33 lifetime trips merit her another shot; needs pace/race luck to put forth best rally.

RIGHT OF WAY: Put in a mild rally to gain third in off-the-turf dash over muddy ground in his latest, and is capable of more; use versatile sort in exotics.

4*SPECIAL: WILDCAT KID: Blasted free on the pace and lived up to odds-on billing with clear score for winning Lake barn by way of GP most recently; keeps rolling around here.

LONGSHOT: BROAD CONTOUR: Didn’t have much pace to come after when a distant fourth in her local return by way of PEN for her latest; surprise package.

CHURCHILL DOWNS

DARE WE DREAM: Set the pace and weakened to finish third as the beaten favorite in her latest, from which she was claimed for $30K by winning B. Cox barn; finds right group.

DARLIN’ DIANE: Battled on the pace, led in the stretch, and stayed on to finish second over sloppy ground most recently; too sharp to ignore for winning Calhoun barn right now.

FLATTER ME ROSE: Made some progress through the stretch to pick up fourth in the slop when back from a brief break most recently; 11-time winner scores with cheapies.

JP’SHANNA: Shook off pace heat to shake free in the lane, but ultimately settled for a narrowly beaten third in local return off brief respite; proven sort gets back in win column.

KAJIWARA: Hasn’t run a poor one since building on fifth-place debut run last-March; most recently lived up to odds-on billing in clear score and figures to keep rolling.

ROSE MEDALLION: Put in a wide bid and gave out to finish sixth on move back to turf for her latest; was cutting back from 1 5/8-mile trip in prior start, and can be sharper for next time.

SUM OF THE PARTS: Overcame a slow break to manhandle five rivals in his juvenile debut; onward and upward for son of Speightstown from strong T. Amoss barn.

TANZANA: Chased inside and faded from contention when fifth in search of his third straight score, but off a September-layoff; steps up.

WENDYBIRD: Added Lasix and showed some late interest to pick up fourth over sloppy ground in her first try here off a GP debut in March; making progress.

4*SPECIAL: Z APPEAL: Didn’t have much to offer when wide and fifth in his first start since last-October most recently; worth following off $40K-claim for winning M. Maker barn.

LONGSHOT: MAD AFTERSHOCK: Battled early after a bobble leaving the chute, made his way to the pace, and ultimately weakened to fourth in fair try; more to give.
