Broken arm sidelines Rosie Napravnik

By: SPORTS NETWORK

Stanton, DE (Sports Network) - Leading female jockey Rosie Napravnik suffered a broken arm at Delaware Park on Wednesday when her mount went down during the eighth race. The 23-year-old rider will be out indefinitely.

Napravnik was riding Naseeb, the 2-1 second pick in the five-furlong allowance race. The five-year-old mare broke down less than midway into the race, throwing Napravnik to the track. Naseeb was humanely destroyed.

Napravnik has gained national recognition this year with her winning the Louisiana Derby aboard Pants On Fire. The colt and rider finished ninth in the Kentucky Derby.

This year Napravnik has earned nearly $4.7 million in 617 mounts and 131 wins.
