Keeneland to go after online bettors

By: SPORTS NETWORK

Lexington, KY (Sports Network) - Horseplayers who like to wager online will be courted by Keeneland Racecourse with a new advance deposit wagering (ADW) operation. Keeneland Select will be powered by TwinSpires.com, a subsidiary of Churchill Downs Incorporated.

"We recognize that there is a large group of players who are underserved and we think Keeneland Select's approach will resonate with them," said Jim Goodman, Keeneland's Director of Simulcasting. "Our rewards program is straightforward. For every $5,000 you wager, $50 goes back into your account. Plus, our best players will have access to special perks, including VIP access during Keeneland's live meet."

Goodman and industry veteran Ed Meyer will lead Keeneland Select's day-to-day operations. The ADW will only be available to residents of Kentucky, Ohio, Florida, Louisiana and Arkansas.

"The site is supported by TwinSpires.com's technology platform and experienced player services team," TwinSpires.com President Rohit Thukral said, "but features a user interface and customer experience that is uniquely Keeneland's and matches the racing association's storied tradition. We're excited to see this project come to fruition."

Keeneland's fall race meet, which will celebrate the track's 75th anniversary, will run from October 7 through October 29.
