17th Dubai World Cup set for 2012

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (Sports Network) - The date for the 17th running of the Dubai World Cup, the world's richest thoroughbred race, has been set for Saturday, March 31. The 1 1/4-mile World Cup has a purse of $10 million.
This year's race was won by Japan's Victoire Pisa by a neck over Transcend. The four-year-old colt was ridden by Mirco Demuro and trained by Sumii Katsuhiko,
Previous winners of the race, held at Meydan Racecourse, include Cigar, Silver Charm, Invasor and Curlin.
