Dutrow pair work for PA Derby

By: SPORTS NETWORK

Bensalem, PA (Sports Network) - Trainer Tony Dutrow's two entrants for the $1 million Pennsylvania Derby on Saturday had their final workouts Tuesday morning at Delaware Park. Both Rush Now and J W Blue worked four-furlongs over the main track.

Rush Now worked the four-furlongs in 49 2/5 seconds and J W Blue was caught in 51 4/5. Of the 23 horses who worked a half-mile Rush Now was the seventh fastest and J W Blue was 21st.

Rush Now is the 9-2 fourth pick in the morning-line for the PA Derby. The colt is coming off a second-place finish to Prayer for Relief in the West Virginia Derby on August 6. Before that he was fourth at Delaware Park in the Barbaro Stakes and won the Spend a Buck in May at Monmouth Park. In March he was second in the Private Terms Stakes at Laurel Park and five weeks later finished third at Parx Racing in the Philmont.

For Saturday's 1 1/8-mile race at Parx, Rush Now will break from post five with Cornelio Velasquez currently listed to ride. Velasquez is also listed on J W Blue.

J W Blue has drawn post eight in the nine-horse field. The colt is 8-1 in the program off his third-place result in last month's Travers at Saratoga. He posted consecutive seconds this summer in the Floor Show and Barbaro Stakes, and was third at Pimlico in May in the Federico Tesio. At Oaklawn Park in the spring J W Blue was fifth in the Rebel Stakes and sixth in the Arkansas Derby.
