Blind Luck versus six in Lady's Secret

By: SPORTS NETWORK

Arcadia, CA (Sports Network) - Champion filly Blind Luck returns to the races on Saturday in the $250,000 Lady's Secret Stakes at Santa Anita Park. The four-year-old will face six challengers in the 1 1/16-mile race.

The Lady's Secret is part of the Breeders' Cup "Win and You're In" program which gives the stakes winner an automatic spot in the Breeders' Cup Ladies' Classic at Churchill Downs on November 4. Also on the card is the $250,000 Goodwood Stakes at 1 1/8 miles, where the winner can move on to the Breeders' Cup Classic.

Trained by co-owner Jerry Hollendorfer, Blind Luck will start from the inside post with regular jockey Garrett Gomez riding. A win in the race would put the filly past the $1 million mark for earnings this year.

She most recently won the 1 1/4-mile Delaware Handicap over rival filly Havre de Grace. Her other victories in 2011 include the Vanity Handicap and La Troieene. The filly began the year with runner-up finishes in the El Encino, La Canada and second to Havre de Grace in the Azeri.

Blind Luck, 2010 champion three-year-old filly, has earned nearly $3.3 million with 12 wins in 21 career starts.

Here is the complete field for the Lady's Secret in post position order: Blind Luck, Garrett Gomez; Champagne d'Oro, Joe Talamo; Ask the Moon, Martin Garcia; Love Theway Youare, Christian Santiago Reyes; Great Hot, Chantal Sutherland; Ultra Blend, David Flores and Zazu, Joel Rosario.

The last three Lady's Secret Stakes were won by 2010 Horse of the Year Zenyatta.

Santa Anita Handicap winner Game On Dude heads the field for the Goodwood. The four-year-old gelding will be ridden by Chantal Sutherland from post eight in the nine-horse race.

Trained by Hall of Fame member Bob Baffert, Game On Dude has not won since the Big 'Cap in March, but has a chance of surpassing the $1 million mark for the year. Overall he has nearly $1.1 million in career earnings with four wins in 12 starts.

From the rail out here is the full field for the Goodwood: Acclamation, Patrick Valenzuela; Coil, Martin Garcia; Tres Borrachos, Joel Rosario; Preamble, Victor Espinoza; Golden Itiz, Joe Talamo; Miss Match, Garrett Gomez; Awesome Gem, David Flores; Game On Dude, Chantal Sutherland and Nijinsky's Song, Hector Berrios.
